where did the CNY spirit go?

CNY was hectic as it has been for the past 3 years, gone were the days where i used to have the whole week off......is it just me and my family or has CNY in general toned down as compared to the last decade?

CNY used to be loud, as in very loud.....fire crackers and all, but thanks to a bunch of losers who truly deserved their limbs burnt off due to pure stupidity in handling innocuous fire crackers, the only noise that could be heard now is pop pop and the occasional hissing sound of sparklers (even this i heard was illegal)......

when i was a kid, all my cousins were kids, my grandparents were around and yes, we did have a reunion dinner and everyone was around......now with my paternal grandparents gone, some kids have grown up and the challenges of a vigorous overseas education proved too much to handle, somehow, CNY has become very very quiet......maybe it's the current unforgiving economy, maybe it's just that i were only home for 3 days, not long enough to witness the full CNY, but i don't hear the bang of the drums leading the footsteps of the lion anymore at home, hah, even that synthetic lion is gone, make noise to scare who now?

maybe there just isn't a reason to celebrate anymore......and i am in my lab now worrying that my western blot wouldn't work, it seems that there would be more celebration if it worked than a dying CNY.......

i miss CNY.......

traffic lights

heard of the "are you green, amber or red?" question? no? neither have i, until last week......this friend of mine was talking about some girl whose name, for the first few seconds i thought was amber........well, she is amber, or was amber, i can't remember, but anyway, amber isn't a noun, it's an adjective.......oh no no, the fictitious amber didn't force a whole load of carrots into her to turn her amber, amber merely means "in the process to be attached/married".

and yes, if you're not half as blur as me, you'd have guessed that red means attached and green means available.......

apparantly, it's not in our culture to be so direct as to ask a person his/her status, so someone, somewhere, possibly super desperate to know some girl of his interest's status created the traffic light question.......he probably received aortic blood stains on his face......

and yes, of course, not forgetting the group of people who are Evergreen, most, of course, are not by choice, (think B****** aka the man who sits in front), gosh, i am so darn mean.......i've said it b4 and i'd say it again, some weight loss would do him good.......

oh, yea, wanna know my colour? huh?

*drum rolls................................*

i know you people wanna know........

and stupid la, i know u're thinking i'm evergreen.......

i'm neither green nor red........

nor amber.......

i'm white.......the colour of purity and innocence (as some people/body portrays the colour to be), but, let's not forget all the colours that make up white yah? oh yes, i'm a wild child *wink*

new year, blah......

as i wandered ard T3 in singapore, watching ppl taking photographs at the departure area, i coudn't resist the emotional breeze that was hitting my face as i closed my eyes for its maximum force......it's the end of the year, so many things came by, some stayed, some left......it seems that no matter how hard i try to grab hold of a certain precious gem, it just slips away right in front of my very eyes......

i still can't believe that it's already 2009......when i was in sec 2, this year was still, 10 years more......it's the year of the ox, which means that i am 12 x 2 years old this year, arghhhhh, and don't get me counting my age according to the lunar calendar, i'd need botox after that......and my granny insists that the lunar calendar is more accurate and couldn't stop asking me how old am i........

i wish for the best for the people dearest to me, i love you and may the year ahead be as fruitful as all the past years combined.......
