power group......or not

approximately 3 weeks ago, i was desperate......blame it all on the module coordinators, but in the end, i still needed a group for my final theatre studies practical examination......

i contemplated, should i be in the group with the best actors, or should i be in the group where joy and laughter receive greater attention above the exam itself? i admit, in the end, i chose the former......

so yea, we were the best actors, gifted with the best performing skills and were even labelled as the power group by some......

we only had 6 people, no directors, no costume designers, no set designers, all actors......we all acted, the thing we all do best.......need i say more? our costumes and interpretation of the script did not impress the examiners very much.......in fact, one of them bluntly said, "YOU ALL MISINTERPRETED!"

the whole journey to the exam was, a little painful. we couldn't even decide on the play itself. in the end, i played the lead character in golden child. funny. i've made known to the whole world that i was going to S/U this module and i ended up playing the lead role.

to be fair, though painful, i did enjoy the ride. i'd never forget this talented group of ppl. Costumes and interpretation aside, we are, undoubtedly, the best actors.

To first wife, second wife, third wife (my precious eling), anh and reverend baines! the best actors in the world! *drinks*

but i'm still malaysian leh.....

let's be frank, malaysian or singaporean, men away from their families, are still men, understand?

ok, ok! i promise i'll stop repeating those lines once i'm done with my theatre studies practical exam......but yea.....malaysian or singaporean, is there really a difference?

throw me that question 4 years ago, i'd definitely say, nope, we are one homogenous ethnic (i meant the chinese la.....)

but now, gosh, i can't seem to find any similarities other than our shared skin color and tone......tsk, even that's arguable, well, is it just me or are singaporean men/boys my age much darker than their malaysian counterparts? *think ketpin* then, *think me*.......oh GOD......

even manglish and singlish ARE different......singaporeans tend to use more leh's and hokkien slangs like jialat and misspelt shortened malay words like pon (in case you don't know, the real word is ponteng aka to skip school), lobang (oh no no, not some female's *TOOT*, but rather, any opportunity/connection)......

indeed, malaysians tend to rely a lot on the word "memang", which i have, after 3 years, succesfully substituted it with "it's like that" without the involvement of the conscious region of my brain.....

and yes, i've become very singaporean (disregard my fairer than usual skin tone), and yes, i BLOODY KNOW I DON'T SPEAK LIKE A MALAYSIAN......i get my past participles right and my grammar's impeccably flawless in a singaporean way......there, but beneath that superficial facade, i am still MALAYSIAN.......
